Property & Casualty Insurance - Safety Group Program
With over 100 years of experience in the specialty insurance industry. ILM recognizes the short and long-term challenges that influence your business decisions and insurance needs. As a result, ILM offers products designed to meet the challenges inherent to the lumber and building materials industry and leads the way in property insurance protection with big savings through MLBMA.
MLBMA members are eligible for premium savings and the Safety Dividend Program. Creating a sound safety program and implementing loss prevention procedures by each safety group participant is a key component in the success of the MLBMA/ILM Property and Casualty Dividend Insurance Safety Group Program.
How the Property & Casualty Dividend Program Works
A safety group is a loss sensitive insurance program that enables employers in the same industry to combine their insurance premiums with the goal of reducing their insurance premiums. While it is possible that an individual safety group participant may have a substantial loss in any given year, most of the participants of the group will not. The group program spread the risk from the individual policyholder to the entire group. That often allows a portion of the premiums to be returned to the member in the form of a dividend, although dividends cannot be guaranteed.
"Insurance purchasing can be one of the most important purchases I make for my company on a yearly basis. We operate six different operations that requires, in some cases, different types of insurance. I found the right fit for us in the Indiana Lumbermen's Mutual Insurance Company, the ILM Group. John Millerwise is our agent and he knows our business. John understands what is important to the building material dealer so that we have the right kind of insurance coverage for our different operations. The ILM Group and John Millerwise was the right choice for us."

john@mlbma.org - Worker's Compensation
-
MLBMA, in partnership with the Michigan Retail Hardware Association (MRHA) Self-Insured Workers Compensation Fund, provides members of MLBMA workers compensation coverage at considerable savings over the cost of coverage with a commercial insurance carrier.
For over 29 years the MRHA Self-Insured Workers Compensation Fund has been operated by MRHA staff for Association members. Trustees are members of MRHA and continue to work and serve with staff to manage and administrate the fund.
Why consider Workers Compensation coverage through the MRHA Self-Insured Fund?
- The MRHA Self-Insured Workers Compensation Fund is nationally recognized for proactive member-related service for providing the lowest net cost to participants.
- The Fund operates with lower overhead costs than a typical insurance company and refunds interest earnings as well as premium monies that aren't utilized for operating costs.
- The Fund's claims are less than half of a typical insurance company's because members and employees consistently report claims early and help workers quickly and safely return to work.
- The annual participant retention has exceeded 99% for over 25-years.
