  • MLBMA Publishes Overview of Changes to the
     Michigan Construction Lien Act.

Changes to the Michigan Construction Lien Act that went into affect in early January, provides more consistent funding mechanisms for the Construction Lien Recovery Fund--some additional protection for suppliers, some new requirements for suppliers relative to due diligence and credit extension, and additional requirements for contractors relative to waivers. The overview covers the following topics:

  • Procedures for Recovery from the Fund
  • Recovery by a Supplier
  • Payment from the Fund
  • Fund Expenditures
  • Fees
  • Fund Provisions

MLBMA is adding a new feature section to Essential Framework in the May 2007 issue titled "Michigan Business Success Stories." Great things are happening behind the scenes at Michigan's lumber and building material dealers, industry suppliers and manufacturers and we would like to have the opportunity to share your success story with other MLBMA members as a resource of new innovative ideas and encouragement.
